Description
Durban, South Africa, in the heart of the KwaZulu Natal Kingdom, lies a place with a heart, it is a place where you hear the laughter of children during the day and at night the peaceful breathing of children in safety. It is a place where the faithful create hope, seek justice and give love generously. It is a place where the aim of each serving heart is to change lives. A place called LIV.
The vision of the LIV Foundation is to educate the children in the village, so that they have access to quality teaching and much needed therapy, giving them every opportunity to succeed in life.
The LIV School is a fully functioning school for 209 students ranging from Grade RRR to Grade 12 with a trained staff of 34. LIV School is a registered Independent School comprising an Early Child Development (ECD) Centre, a Primary and a Secondary School.
At present there are 22 classrooms, and rudimentary computer, art, woodwork and music rooms, whilst recently, a dance and choir studio has been created.
LIV believes in individually adapted, holistic education in a non-threatening environment, allowing each child to develop at his/her own pace without judgment or prejudice to reach their full potential. A level of quality and variety in education is sought and a stimulating learning environment is created so that each child can develop self-worth, self-determination and self-discipline, setting them up for the future. Learners are guided towards independence by being encouraged to rely on their own decision, whilst skilling them in entrepreneurship and enabling them to access information technology in a way that will equip them for a working environment.
